About Us
My name is Emily Mendez, and I am a bilingual (Spanish) Licensed Master Social Worker, evaluator, and therapist.
I pride myself on providing a combination of both trauma-informed, thorough, and clinically valuable assessment sessions AND excellent, professionally written reports. I have worked with a variety of immigrant populations for over 10 years, including many survivors of trauma (domestic violence, sexual assault, etc). This experience helps me know the right questions to ask to not only prepare a rich assessment report but also practical emotional support in the moment.
I obtained a BA in Psychology and Spanish from Hope College in 2011, and completed a Master in Social Work from the University of New England in 2017. I am fully licensed as a Masters Social Worker (Clinical) in the state of Michigan, and am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida. I am fluent in Spanish, and have experience completing evaluations for a variety of trauma and family based immigration cases.
In my own life I experienced personally the anxiety and uncertainty that comes from not knowing if you will be with your loved ones due to immigration status. This allows me to be not only empathetic with my clients, but also gave me personal experience with the U.S. immigration system. I’ve had an insider view of what it’s like to go through all the paperwork, fees, probing questions, and requests for personal information from attorneys and USCIS. I know how important these evaluations can be in determining the outcome of a case.
